Commissioned by the ASCAP Foundation and Meet The Composer to accompany the presentation of the Gold Baton Award to Adolph Herseth at the Annual Conference of the American Symphony Orchestra League in Seattle in 2001, this powerful work features idiomatic writing for all its forces as well as a beautiful, lyrical trumpet solo in its central section as a tribute to the awardee, one of our greatest brass players and teachers.
